I’m always interested in hearing from people who would like to contribute to one of my current projects. As you can probably tell, I’m very focused on design these days—specifically world-changing design rather than handbags or salt shakers. So, world-changers, please write.
A note to publicists: Please don’t put me on any kind of press release list, because I just delete or throw away releases that are sent to me. If you think you have a story idea that’s truly relevant to what I’m working on, just pitch me with a personal email.
To young and aspiring writers: I’m happy to answer questions about making a living as a writer, since I have nearly two decades of successful freelance experience. I just ask that you limit yourself to a couple of Qs. I occasionally speak at college campuses on this subject, but I must confess I don’t have many shortcuts or magic formulas to share.
To the press: If you want to quote me on the subjects of design and/or advertising, just send an initial email and then we can connect by phone. I do occasional radio segments for NPR, television appearances on CNN, and lots of interviews for newspapers. Since I’m a journalist myself, I’m good at soundbites and I try to speak slowly since I know how hard it is to take notes on a fast-talker.
Lastly, if you wish to contact me because you are located in a tiny distant country and have come into a large sum of money and need someone to help you invest it if only I will first provide all of my personal financial information, then I have reserved a special email address just for you. You'll have to guess what it is.
